The National Park Service has begun renovations aimed at relieving traffic congestion and improving safety at the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park near Gardiner, Montana.  That’s good news for our clients who pick their RV up in Billings and travel over the Beartooth Highway to Yellowstone.  This road is used for those visitors traveling to Mammoth Hot Springs and the Lamar Valley as well.

Park officials say a new entrance station complex will give visitors the option of entering Yellowstone through the historic Roosevelt Arch or by traveling over a new access road to bypass congestion. The plan also will expand the parking area at the entrance and add new crosswalks and walkways.  This improvement will make it safer and easier for visitors to access businesses along Park Street.  Traffic will be separated so park employees and delivery vehicles have an improved working environment, while visitors will experience better traffic flow.

Improvements will be completed in phases as funding becomes available.  Travel around the north entrance of Yellowstone will become easier and more pleasant.  Since Yellowstone is one of the most visited parks in the National Park System, this is welcome news.  For the third year in a row, Yellowstone saw over three million visitors in 2011.  It’s good to see that improvements are being made to accommodate travelers.  Read more about our popular Yellowstone trips, or call (800) 247-0970 to start planning your RV trip.
