This trip is perfect for anyone interested in America’s history, from forts to huge rock carvings of historical figures. Starting from Denver, you’ll travel to Rocky Mountain National Park, then to Fort Collins for military, mining, and fur-trapper history. Then its time to leave Colorado and head into South Dakota to visit Hot Springs for Wind Cave National Park and a prehistoric mammoth site. Next, Badlands National Park for spectacular rock formations and fossils, then the Black Hills, for rock-climbing, horseback riding, the famous Mount Rushmore, and the work-in-progress Crazy Horse Monument. Finally, you will venture back into Wyoming to see nature’s sculptures at Devils Tower, before returning to Denver.
