Kate grew up in Ohio and has also lived in Pennsylvania, Arizona, New York, and Louisiana. Now back in Ohio, Kate lives with her husband, their two dogs (Jerry & Duchess), two cats (Winston & Cricket), and three chickens (nameless)! They have a small farm where they hope, in time, to add more animals as well as offer foster care to local animal shelters’ rescued livestock.
With a BA in History & MA in Public History, Kate initially worked in museums, libraries, and archives and then moved into the animal welfare sector as a Volunteer Coordinator and a Foster Care Coordinator. Before joining the Tracks & Trails team, Kate worked as a Volunteer Manager for Cleveland Metroparks.
Kate regularly goes on family camping trips to Ohio’s state parks and has traveled within the US as well as visited France and honeymooned in Ireland. In her spare time, Kate volunteers with her local historical association to help repair and restore headstones in historic cemeteries, and portrays local 19th-century historic figures through the historical association. She also farm-sits for people in her local area when they go on vacation.
Kate believes that by getting out and exploring outside of our normal surroundings and comfort zones, travel helps us to become well-rounded individuals. She enjoys contributing to our travelers experiencing the unique offerings of the West.
