Dan grew up in the Midwest and now lives in Montrose, Colorado with wife Mary, two of their four children, dog, and cats. Dan attended Colorado College and Centre College and holds an MBA in Marketing from Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Prior to founding Tracks & Trails, Dan worked for IBM, McCann-Erickson Advertising, and Deere & Company. He was inspired to launch Tracks & Trails in 1998 following a “two-month” corporate sabbatical that turned into a two-year camping trip, exploring the US, Central America, and Canada. Dan now oversees Tracks & Trails’ strategic planning, systems development, and human resources as well as having daily involvement with planning trips for our travelers.
Dan’s travel and outdoor experiences include canoeing expeditions in Canada, backpacking and paddling trips in the Rockies, trips to Europe, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Asia. In 2009, he and his family traveled around the world while working with Semester at Sea.
Outside of work, Dan can be found canoeing, rafting, hiking, mountain biking, and exploring the West with all manner of motorized and human-powered vehicles
