Overview Of Banff, Jasper, Yoho & Kootenay, Canada

Spend a week or more exploring these spectacular national parks in Western Canada. Starting in the foothills in Calgary, you’ll travel along the incredible Icefields Parkway which connects the parks and towns of Banff, Lake Louise, Kootenay, Yoho, and Jasper. High rugged mountains, glaciers, waterfalls and outstanding wildlife viewing are the highlights. Besides doing some great alpine hiking, you can raft, soak in hot springs, horseback ride, or walk on the edge of a glacier in this area of the Rocky Mountains.

Calgary – 1 night
The largest city in the Province of Alberta, Calgary is your gateway city to Banff and Jasper National Parks.
Calgary to Banff: 130 km


Banff National Park – 2 nights
Banff National Park was created in 1885 after the now-famous natural hot springs were discovered. Take an icefield tour, raft, hike, or climb.
Banff to Kootenay: 140 km


Kootenay National Park – 1 night
Visit beautiful Marble Canyon, and soak at Radium Hot Springs.
Kootenay to Yoho: 110 km


Golden (Yoho National Park) – 2 nights
Visit the Grizzly Bear Refuge and walk across Canada’s longest freestanding timber frame bridge. Explore Yoho National Park from this town. A spectacular white water raft trip is available on the Kicking Horse River.
Yoho to Jasper: 300 km


Jasper National Park – 3 nights
The largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, Jasper offers Snocoach tours of the Athabasca Glacier, abundant recreational opportunities, and Miette hot springs.
Jasper to Lake Louise: 230 km


Lake Louise – 1 night
The grand Chateau Lake Louise sits on the shores of the amazingly turquoise waters of Lake Louise. Canoe, hike, or take a horseback ride at this pristine locale.

Jasper SkyTram

Your trip includes morning tickets to ride the Jasper SkyTram to its Upper Station on Whistlers Peak. It is the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada and provides easy access to a boardwalk and hiking trails in the alpine zone of the Canadian Rockies. Prepare to be amazed as you gain a brand new perspective of Jasper’s stunning national park. Your return flight to the Lower Station is included.

The SkyTram is staffed with a trained operator who can provide information on the unique geology, cultural heritage, flora and fauna of the area during your 7-minute flight as you ascend 3,100 feet to the upper station which is at an elevation of 7,424 feet above sea level. Step out and gaze at six mountain ranges, turquoise lakes, glacial-fed rivers and the boomerang-shaped mountain town of Jasper.

Explore the boardwalk and hiking trails, enjoy lunch at the Upper Station at their full-service restaurant, or enjoy snacks, beverages, and ice cream on your return to the Lower Station.
