About Golden
Situated between the Rocky and Columbia mountain ranges, where the Kicking Horse and Columbia Rivers meet, Golden is surrounded by six of Canada’s most stunning national parks; Yoho, Glacier, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, and Mount Revelstoke.
Golden is a great stop on your Banff, Jasper, Yoho & Kootenay RV vacation. Situated just west of Yoho National Park, from here you can visit this stunning park, with its turquoise lakes and cascading waterfalls or take a whitewater rafting trip on the Kicking Horse River with beautiful Rocky Mountain scenery.
Visit the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort where you can take a sightseeing gondola tour, explore the hiking trails, and visit the Grizzly Bear Refuge which offers orphaned and problem bears a second chance. During the guided tour, you can see resident bear Boo doing what bears in the wild do.
Walk across Canada’s longest freestanding timber frame bridge, the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge, which spans the Kicking Horse River in downtown Golden. It was built from locally sourced timber with a Swiss design to reflect the town’s heritage of the Swiss Guides who were brought to Golden by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1899 to guide tourists through the mountains.
Golden is also home to Canada’s highest suspension bridge, the Golden Skybridge, where two suspension bridges cross an expansive canyon with epic views of a towering waterfall and the Rocky and Purcell mountain ranges. Feel like you’re up in the clouds as you walk the bridges, 426 ft and 262 ft above the canyon, and if that’s not exhilarating enough, there is also an adventure park here where you can get the adrenaline pumping on a zipline, mountain coaster, or a canyon-edge challenge course!
After all that exploring and adventure, eat dinner at one of Golden’s many downtown restaurants or explore the Kootenay Rockies East Ale Trail.
