Travel through the magnificent forest land of Durango on the 1000-acre Palmer Quarter Horse Ranch, which saddles the Florida River east of town. You will ride through valleys and over mountain ridges, ending up where the land meets the Florida River. If the water is not too high, you will ride across the river, allowing the horses to drink and cool off.
1 hour: Ride through the ranch and experience incredible views as you crest the ridge that is composed of the geologic layers making up the northern end of the San Juan Basin.
2 hour: You will travel through the Gambel Oak and Ponderosa Pine foothills, and, if the weather permits, you will reach Rincon Ridge Saddle, with it’s magnificent views of the Florida River Valley to the west and the Pine River Valley to the east.
