Take the incredible Beartooth Highway scenic drive from Billings, Montana into America’s first national park, Yellowstone. Here you will spend several days exploring its geysers, bubbling mudpots, steam vents, and waterfalls. The wildlife watching is incredible, with good chances of seeing bears, elk, bison, deer, mountain goats, and big horn sheep, along with eagles and other birds of prey. Included with this trip is a day with your own private guide to give you a look at “hidden” Yellowstone. Head into Grand Teton National Park for hiking, paddling, floating, and more wildlife viewing before returning to Yellowstone National Park to visit the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Head back to Billings, catching an authentic night rodeo in Cody along the way!
Billings – 1 night
Fly into Billings and check into your hotel where there are bikes you can borrow to go exploring. Visit the Billings Zoo or take a stroll in Billings’ Historic District to visit the train depot, museums, and art galleries. Billings is also the starting point of the Beartooth Highway, a scenic drive that leads to Yellowstone National Park.
Billings to Red Lodge: 60 miles
Red Lodge – 1 night
Start on the Beartooth Scenic Highway and stop near Red Lodge for a night. Visit the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary and enjoy the lake at your campground.
Red Lodge to Yellowstone: 115 miles
Yellowstone National Park (western side) – 2 nights
Yellowstone is the place to see abundant wildlife on a guided private tour, and to marvel at the other-worldly geysers and hot pools.
Yellowstone to Grand Teton: 80 miles
