Western Canada has long been a popular road trip destination and with so many different things to see and do it’s easy to see why this is the perfect place for a family vacation!
From the rainforests of British Columbia to the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, plus everything in between, Western Canada has such variety. The Canadian Rocky Mountains stand tall and proud and offer visitors some of the world’s most beautiful and spectacular mountain scenery. Glacier-fed lakes such as Lake Louise are breathtaking with the amazing turquoise blue color of the water. Hiking around the shoreline or getting out on the water by canoe is really the best way to fully appreciate the glory of this place.
And where there are mountains there are also many glaciers. Both within Banff National Park and Glacier National Park you can see a glacier up close, and even stand on one on Banff’s Athabasca Glacier in the Columbia Icefield.
It’s hard to believe you could be viewing snow capped mountains one day, vineyards a day or so later, and only a few days after this be hiking through rainforest. That’s the beauty of Western Canada though! You could also be enjoying several very popular cities – Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria, all ideal stops on a Western Canada road trip, or a great place to start or finish in Calgary and Vancouver. Don’t underestimate the size of Western Canada though, as it’s easy to try to put too much into a road trip of this region!
