I hadn’t thought about Marlin Perkins for a long, long time.  But about a month ago, I received a note from a nice lady asking if I would like to participate in a media campaign about ‘aha moments’.  She worked for Mutual of Omaha Insurance, and the idea, she told me, was to interview people who had experienced ‘aha moments’ in their lives.  She defined an aha moment as ‘a moment of clarity, a defining moment where you gain real wisdom – wisdom you can use to change your life.  As soon as she said that, I knew I had one.  It was the moment that my vision for Tracks & Trails came into focus.

The program is intended to create social media buzz for Mutual of Omaha, and their favorite ‘moments’ get used in a series of TV commercials.  The interviews are conducted in a custom Airstream TV studio on wheels by a small crew of road-weary filmmakers who travel around the country for 5 months, stopping in about 25 towns.  They do back-to-back interviews for a couple of days, then pull up stakes and move on to the next town.  Grand Junction was on their list, and somehow they found me.  Being a sucker for unique RVs, I would have showed up just to see the Airstream.  But they actually wanted to talk to me.  Marlin always seemed like a guy you could trust, so I signed up for my 20-minute time slot and pulled into the mall parking lot right on time.
